Surfer - James McKean : After one hour of tension release session
Peter McCullough : After years of back pain is now tension-free
I started seeing Sean several years ago, after I had seen a Neurosurgeon Dr Richard Parkinson and had been booked in for spine surgery.
My symptoms started with pins and needles in two of my fingers on my left hand, I experienced this on and off for years. I thought nothing of it. It wasn’t until doing shoulder press one day did I then experience pain in my neck that forced me to stop. In the coming days, the pins and needles began running down my arm and the nerve pain set in – I had lost strength in my left arm - it would give way under tension.
I told Sean, who I didn’t know at the time, what I was experiencing and what the Neurosurgeon recommended – I was booked in for surgery in 2 weeks’ time. A detail I now recall, Dr Parkinson did not feel I would regain my strength 100%.
Sean told me at the time, ‘I can fix you’.
I was at my wits end, I couldn’t train – something I love, I was in agony and I was dealing with the fact that I may never regain my strength in my left arm. I started seeing Sean right away, several times a week for dry needling and massage – I had nothing to lose. Within a week of starting treatment I was beginning to feel relief, my symptoms were no longer constant, they would come and go.
I delayed surgery and sought a second opinion from another Neurosurgeon, Dr Mark Winder. 4 weeks had passed from when I started treatment with Sean and my symptoms were still present though much reduced. Dr Mark Winder did not recommend surgery given my improvement, rather to continue the course of action I was taking.
It was not an overnight fix, it took a few months of regular dry needling and massage and several months of maintenance – I hit the gym pretty hard. I regained 100% of my strength, I am symptom free and I have full mobility.
I cannot recommend Sean enough, he saved me from cutting into my body to treat a symptom and not the cause. Sean taught me how to recognise when my body needed to be opened and how I can self-treat.
Sean,
Thank you for your assistance as my personal trainer.
You have now been my trainer since last August 2006. At the time I started I could barely stand and had a lot of pain in my back and neck. Having spent years attending both physio and massage previously. My pain was as a result of a lot a sport when I was younger, a number of bad falls especially when I was pregnant with my children, commuting, sitting using a PC/Laptop over a number of years and a number of years of limited exercise.
Through the techniques you use in our personal training sessions of stretching and massage we have reduced my pain to almost nil and I have increased my flexibility in my body significantly.
Keep up the great work.
I met Sean in 2010 after I had a life scare of breast cancer.
While on remission, I went back to the gym and decided to invest in my health and well being. I was a bit hesitant at first to hire a personal trainer but after a few work outs and seeing results with Sean, I was ready to commit.
I have been training with him since on a weekly basis. Sean uses holistic approach to fitness incorporating flexibility, strength, posture, balance along with healthy lifestyle and eating regimen.
In my 8 years training with him, I have made an incredible progress to my agility, flexibility, strength and overall outlook in life.
He taught me how to do chi gong, tai chi, etc.
I also have gone to a lot of health retreats with him which I thoroughly enjoyed and look forward to do more in the future.
Sean is genuinely caring person and puts a lot of effort and attention to his clients.
Couldn’t recommend him highly enough.
Simply the best!
